Many UK members of my Facebook groups use PolicyBee and I use them for my own insurance cover. Receive up to 10% off your Professional Indemnity Insurance with this link.
InsuranceBee is the US sister company of PolicyBee and they are who many stateside members of my Facebook group say they get their Virtual Assistant Insurance from.
I work 100% in the cloud and, although you could use OneDrive, I prefer to store all my data in Drive. I pay £15.99 a year for 100GB of storage which is more than enough for my needs.
This is another online storage platform but it's more expensive than Drive or OneDrive. A lot of your clients will use Dropbox though so it pays to be familiar with it.
My Accountant always recommends Freeagent or Xero. I went with Xero but FreeAgent is cheaper. You can get it for free if you're business current account holder with NatWest, RBS or Ulster Bank NI.
This is probably the most popular time tracker among VAs and the free version will be fine for what you need. Simply punch in and out when you start and stop work then send the time report to your client.
I use the free version of Trello to manage my personal projects and also collaborate with my VA. Some VAs prefer Asana or Monday so check them all out and see which one you like best.
Loom is a fab Chrome extension where you can record your computer screen, your face, or both. You then download and send the video or share the link. I sometimes also use Awesome Screenshot.
This is the best payment platform for taking payments from overseas clients. It's regulated by the US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network and backed by Barclays and Wells Fargo.
1ty.me provides one-time self-destructing links so you can safely share sensitive information. This is the perfect way for clients to give you login details instead of sending them via email or instant message.
After an awful experience with LastPass I now use 1Password to keep all of my passwords safe. I use this every single day and would be completely lost without it. A password manager is a must for every VA.
WeTransfer is the best way to safely send large files to clients. It's completely free and is perfect for when you need to email an attachment or a video but the file size is too big to go as an attachment.
This is a fantastic social media management platform that lets you create and schedule content to a variety of different accounts. VAs often use this to schedule client updates.
After trying them all, this is the evergreen social media scheduler that I now use myself. It's more expensive than most but I love the interface and features. This might be a good option for your clients.
This is a cheaper evergreen scheduler and, along with Recurpost, is a great platform. An evergreen scheduler will save you so much time and is one of the very first things I suggest you invest in.
I use this to schedule one-off social media content that I come across online. The pro version lets you queue more content but the free one is still fine. Get this if you want to post or schedule on the fly.
You're going to need a website to promote your shiny new business and, if learning WordPress is a step too far, then Wix is definitely the next best option. Just make sure you go for the premium plan!
One of the biggest global hosting companies, these guys can provide you with a domain name and host your website too. Their prices are reasonable and a https security certificate is included as standard.
God only knows what we all did before Canva! It's basically a free or cheap way to create gorgeous designs ranging from social media graphics and business cards, to email signatures and flyers.
These are by far the best company to get your business cards from. They have so many stylish options and whole process is really easy. My chewing gum-sized business cards get loads of attention!
This is the platform I use to deliver my downloads and digital products. A great option for your clients, you can create and upload a doc (or bundle of docs), grab the link and start making money in less than an hour.
An RSS Reader such as Feedly is a great way to aggregate industry-specific content to use as social media fodder for you and your clients. I love Feedly because it's free, elegant and easy to use.
ConvertKit is my email marketing platform of choice. A superior, next-level option, the tagging and segmentation features are invaluable and I like that I'm only charged once for each subscriber's email address.
This page, my signup pages and all of my sales pages were created in LeadPages. With stunning templates and a drag & drop interface, out of every tool I pay for, LeadPages would be the last one I would let go!
HOW MEN SELL VS HOW WOMEN SELL
This is a fantastic video on how women deal with money. Men just ask for it whereas women want to give everything away for free! Definitely worth a watch if you find money a tricky subject.
